What We Do
At this time there are no Youth in the congregation and nothing is ongoing for any community functions. March 2023
We have cooperated with other organizations when appropriate and when we are able to be involved.
We allow the youth to sing in the Praise Band Worship before services begin. After the Tithe and Offering, we go back the Fellowship Hall and get the Deacon prepared goodies first before the adults! While eating our goodies, I ask each one to tell me something about themselves by asking a question, i.e. “What is your favorite thing to do outdoors?” Then I get them to share how their week went and why it was “good” or “bad.” That leads to discussion on a Spiritual level sometimes.
Depending on the ages of the youth, I have an assortment of personal Life Lessons that allow me to share how Christ helped. We look up Scripture relating to the Lesson and attempt to memorize the verse. Young ones color during the lesson. The teens have been encouraged to share the pressures of Junior and High School peers. I guide the stories so the young ones, that are interested, can learn from the teens experiences.
Asking for prayer requests and teaching them to pray like they were talking to their best friend before we end is always such a special time for me.
Summer Time is Friday Kidz Nightz once a month. It not only gave parents a “date night,” but fun activities for the kidz! Planned camping trips, car washes to raise funds, obstacle courses, 8’ long ice cream troughs, pizza/movie nights, homemade by kids slip ‘n slide, and other creative events. Our communities do not have a youth center or movie theatre and the kids get bored easily, so this Kidz Nightz was created.
Our youth changes constantly. Some have grown and have jobs that conflict with church or activities, but we feel we have planted a seed of God’s Love through fun at church!
